85 Days! New Yangzi Shipbuilding Sets New Record for Shortest Docking Period in 10,000 TEU Vessel Construction

On June 2, 2023, at 13:38 p.m. The fourth 15,000 TEUcontainer ship built by New Yangzi Shipyard for SEASPAN slowly entered theYangtze River, towed by tugboats, and docked at the outfitting pier to enterthe underwater commissioning phase.

This ship, which started keel laying on March 9ththis year, floated out the dock on June 2nd, achieving a remarkably shortdocking period of only 85 days. It set several new records for the constructionperiod of 10,000 TEU vessels, including 30 days for completion of external shaftalignment inspection, 60 days for the completion of the main hull structure,and lightweight measurement at 85 days. This vessel not only achieving theshortest docking period in history, but also achieved significant breakthroughsin its structural integrity, with a comprehensive integrity score of 99.7.
